The environmental action of planting approximately 600 seedlings of native trees of the Atlantic Forest biome of different species took place at Rivelli on December 9th and 13th. The objective of the action is to recover the riparian forest located on the banks of the Cabana stream and connect the vegetation fragments present in the enterprise, forming an ecological corridor.
The event, which is part of Rivelli’s Environmental Education Program, had the support of the IEF-Instituto Estadual de Florestas Núcleo Barbacena, of the Departments of Agriculture, Education and Environment of the municipality of Barbacena/MG and had the participation of students from four municipal schools in addition to company employees. The opening of the action was carried out by the founding partner of the group Carlos Rivelli, who mentioned the importance of the industry to society, the importance of environmental education and environmental preservation practices to guarantee natural resources for future generations. Next, the Rivelli Group was presented by the Environmental Management team, which addressed good practices and the importance of environmental awareness in society.
It is worth mentioning that this action is one of several carried out by Rivelli that are associated with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, with the planting of trees being related to the SDGs “13 – Combating Climate Change – Taking urgent measures to combat climate change”. climate and its impacts”; and “15 – Life on Earth – Protect, restore and promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation and halt the loss of biodiversity.”
